This is an album I have wanted to do for a while and in a format I love - the organ trio. However, it was also my intention to produce something that would be groove-oriented, fun, and would capture the improvisational energy of the band.
For that, I am grateful to my fellow musicians, whose incredible talent and musical interpretation made this project unique. We recorded this in just two days - an exhausting and rewarding experience!
To explain the inclusion of the three cover songs:
The arrangement of Herbie Hancock's beautiful 'Maiden Voyage', was something I had conceived some years ago, but only now had a chance to record. The klezmer 'Odessa Bulgar' is a fun tune, which worked well in this format, complete with a touch of reggae. The last track is a beautiful song by Björk - an artist who continues to be a creative inspiration.
